Cleaners have a great eye. My stuff looks better after they rearrange

I like my cleaner because whatever cleaning she does, she does it very well. She comes every 2 weeks.

- I make my own beds. Though, if I don't, she will do it.
- I remove all clutter from counters and tables before she comes.
- I tell her to put any remaining clutter or clothes in laundry baskets and just put in on the beds.

I do put in some work with her, like putting the rugs back after she cleans a room etc - so that she can leave early and that she is not too exhausted. But she is very hard working and sweet natured so I sort of work alongside her. That way I can tackle drawers, fold laundry, water my plants etc... while she is cleaning.

I think some of them "move things" so that it looks like they cleaned.

Others don't move anything and "clean" around it.

In both cases they are doing the bare minimum. After cleaning, I have found lots of different things missed, including:
- Did not clean tub ledges/shower shelves at all; just the glass
- Didn't vacuum up visibly dead bugs on windowsill
- Sporadic dusting
- No cleaning behind furniture
It is what it is. I clean more to make it to my liking

Honestly, I'm just so glad I don't have to scrub my bathrooms anymore that I don't over analyze these things. If it's something major, just leave a post-it note or text the contact to ask if they don't mind putting the mat back in it's place next time. Done!

I just communicate how I want things done.

I’m with you OP. My house is big, and I don’t do it all at once, but it takes me days to slowly put things back. Today they changed the orientation of a side table by the couch to make it jut out (putting the short side perpendicular to the couch vs parallel to it). It’s just weird stuff like that

“Can you please put the furniture back to where you found it after you finish cleaning? Thank you.”

When the cleaners leave is the only time my house IS in order.

That said, maybe something had to dry? A play mat sounds like it could trap moisture.

DW dust more after the cleaners saying they miss a lot.

Their job is to clean everything, not to remember exactly where everything goes. But if you are not exaggerating about spending "20 minutes putting the house back in order," then just tell them next time. But I'd be willing to bet it was less than 10 minutes, unless your house is huge.

You have to teach them.

Is it not obvious to leave furniture where it was in the first place, though?

Our cleaners just left and as I do every time they come, I now have to spend 20 minutes putting the house back in order. For example: they put my daughters play mat completely under our breakfast table and moved said breakfast table and chairs to the corner of the room.
