More context around this would be great. The people, the food, things to do?

And compared to what other places?

He’s been to Budapest (his favorite), Krakow, Ljubljana, Prague, and a few small towns/cities in Hungary and Slovenia. He said the people there seemed stressed and it wasn’t a welcoming place he’d want to recommend to friends to visit.

It doesn’t have the natural beauty of some other places. It’s got a great music and art scene. Some great clubs. Lots of fascinating history. It’s big and urban and a real city—not a quaint tourist town. Worth visiting for sure but if you had to leave out a place, I guess I’d skip Zagreb.

Yeah I would say that if you are flying in/out of Zagreb it is worth spending a night. But I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

We did Croatia one trip and Slovenia another but you could easily combine Istria and Slovenia. Zagreb was fine but not the highlight.

Anyone visited these destinations on the same trip or separately? Looking for some insight.
