DD’s school has finals, but several of her classes do not. Finals for 3 of the classes are before the AP exams, so done by the end of April.
You’re not in FCPS then. Finals are not done in April. Name the school.
We are in FCPS, Marshall HS. Last year, DS' had his Chemistry exam 2 days before the school was over. It was just weird, I knew there were Seniors in his class.

I remember having less intense work after my AP exams but we still had work to do. It wasn’t the same level of intensity but it was more fun work that was on topic.

Yes, finals are the last week of school. I teach at Robinson, we have explicitly been told we must give a final project or activity during the last block, it cannot be a party/movie/origami/field games day.
Read the syllabi for the classes. We were required to write if we intended to do a project or exam when we wrote them back in August.

Worded that poorly. The finals are not done at the end of the school year, but 6 weeks before the school year ends.

I doubt teachers want to grade a stack of essays and exams feeling the crunch of the end of the year,m deadline, cleaning up the classroom, juggling meetings, etc the very.last.week.of.school.

Seniors take exams earlier than underclassmen because they graduate 10 days or more before the actual last day.
This year the last day of school is officially Wed, June 17. No exams are held on June 17. However, exams are held on Monday and Tuesday prior to the last day. Even days are great because student get to leave after exams. It’s usually around 11:50 am.
