Csranking is purely based on CS related publications and large universities have an advantage by having more professors publishing papers. Only top conferences are counted.
It is impressive to see small universities like Carnegie Mellon and MIT at top. Having a 1/4 of the big state universities faculty are producing significant research and publish papers.

I agree this list makes sense except for umd, it shouldnt be there, umd is more like uva a genarally good state school for everything. honestly i would swap it out w/ virginia tech
