My family was able to receive aid in May. Unforeseen circumstances required a change in schools outside of the application cycle. I had already submitted the FA forms to the original private school.

When it became apparent that a change was inevitable, I got on the phone with admissions at multiple schools. Some schools told me there was still money, some said there is no money left, and one school said let me see what we can do.

You never know until you ask.

Oh, please. My kid's tuition is more than my current salary thanks to recent job loss and state of our economy. Not everyone here is wealthy.

You have bigger problems than just financial aid.

It appears they know that and are trying to look out for their child while navigating a difficult and stressful time.

I always wonder why rich people are doing fundraising scams when they have more money than God. Does anyone ever wonder this. Is like hey America is the richest country in the history of the world. Also side note, we are 37 trillion in debt, we can't afford health care or education for our people, and we have to start world war 3 because Epstein tricked all our rich people.

So the way it works it they have a yearly budget and they try to allocate it out for the next year when processing admissions so they can retain families who are struggling and attract families who can't afford the full tuition, but would be an asset to the school.

Of course when admissions letters go out, not all families consider the financial aid to be enough to make it work for their personal situation (full ride is extremely rare). So some aid doesn't end up being utilized as the person coming off the waitlist may not need the aid. So then the school has those funds available to use for other families when need arises.

The other thing that makes it tricky is that aid is not equally spread across all classes and it is not split equally among families receiving aide.

So there is always a chance of aid being available, but it is way less of a chance outside of normal admissions.

Generally yes. We're a current family and last year at this time Doge was going on and we called about potential aid and they were like "by April our aid is dispersed for current and new families."

You never know. My friend gave her kid's package back due to a positive change in their family's finances. So theoretically that money is there to give. Not sure how that works though...

Most likely it has been allocated, but you can ask.
