We badge in and out of garage, but I always assumed it was the security turnstile was the swipe that counts. Any one know for sure?

We only swipe once to enter our building. No swipe on our way out or for the garage. In theory, someone could badge in and turn around and walk out the next second.

This is accurate. And no one cares until they care. Don’t make anyone care, and try to maintain your schedule. Unless it’s really really egregious, like skipping out an hour or two early every day, it’s unlikely to be a problem. When arriving 15 minutes late and leaving 45 minutes early becomes a months long pattern, it’s a problem. That’s not normal, that’s someone who is not working full time. Take leave as needed, most people have lots of it, or ask for different hours. Just don’t lie on your time card. Unlike the private sector, it’s a federal crime and triggers a whole cascade of issues for the employee, the unit, and the overall agency.

There’s caselaw on this. It starts when you get to your desk, unless you work in a specific setting like a prison where you’re responsible for monitoring inmates on the way to your post or a laboratory where you have to put on PPE.

Less flexibility these days, but it’s not like the private sector, where you’re on all the time, working weekends and vacations. Maybe you should consider moving and see what it’s like.

Turnstile to enter your building is where they measure time in/time out.

Get over it OP. Set alarm and get to work on time. Have a routine. If things hard for you I’m sure it’s showing up in the way you work and having an impact on the organization. No one looks at your time logs until you are a problem.
