She “prefers”. Does not mean you have to agree with her approach. Tell her to give you a prescription and stop letting her decide on such trivial issues as vaginal estrogen inserts.

OP - agree with you! And she is in the National Menopause Society list or whatever which means she is supposedly more up to date. And she is early or mid 50s! Infuriating.

Anyway, I started the above Reveree inserts last night so that’s going to be my solution for now. I will eventually get a new gyn practice or consider the telehealth options which a lot of my friends use but that is for another day.

Vaginal estrogen is safe and not systemic and it’s the best treatment for vaginal dryness due to estrogen loss. If your doctor wants to wait for you to start it until menopause they are not up to date on the guidelines and research for GSM.

I am 50 and starting to notice vaginal dryness. My OB/GYN is pro HRT for me but would prefer me to wait until I’m fully in menopause.

I’m a little confused because it’s my understanding that regardless of the debate about systemic hormones, vaginal estrogen is safe for almost everyone, but anyway, I’m fine to try non hormonal options for a little while.

She recommends hylauronic acid - I’m just not sure whether I should start with external application or go for the inserts. Anyone have any recommendations that they like?
