I'm a dog-sitter who watches dogs in their own homes. They aren't really thinking about you at night in that scenario. Sometimes they ask to go into the kids rooms (doors are closed so they won't use kids toys as their own and ruin them) to sniff around, and sometimes when we come home from walks they run into the parents bedroom to see if they've come home yet.

I think dogs usually adjust pretty quickly, especially if it’s a place they already know from daycare. They definitely miss us, but dogs also rely a lot on routines and scent. I’ve read that they can actually tell when we’ve been gone “longer than normal” because our scent fades over time. So they probably do wonder where we are if we’re away longer than normal.

Definitley, dogs want to be with us at all times. Sorry, don't mean to make you worry, but I 100% believe our dogs think about and miss us when we are gone.

Or why they haven’t seen me in a while.

Am I over thinking about this? They are fine when it’s only for a couple hours in daycare.

They do wonder when they are going back home. But if they are around other dogs, they are usually loving it.

Yes, I'm sure they do as mine is with me all night but they adjust and are ok.

Maybe? Mine goes to stay with friends and ultimately loves it but spends the first two days moping in the back room on the bed in the dark. Then it's all good!

Probably but dogs thought processes aren't that complex. I watched my friend's dog while she was out of town and the dog would watch at the window for her for a bit every day but got better as time went on.

I bet they think “Where’s mommy?”.

We boarded our dog once, at a facility we used with our prior dog. The owners said he would howl when outside, for us to return. We’ve never heard him howl. Yes, he missed us. He’s also a very social dog.

They haven't called or written you letters? Then no.

They are thinking about you, but they’re also having a lot of fun and like the other person said you probably did your research and picked a safe and fun place for them.

Probably not. I’m sure the places you’ve picked for them are nice, clean and safe. I dropped my dog off for the first time in their life (at 12) for 10 days and thought she’d be dying to come home and called daily to check in on them. I was more nervous about it than she was as it turned out. She were being totally pampered at the boarding facility and the receptionists was letting her sit up front with them all day getting pets so she got a ton of attention. She almost seemed annoyed to come home. Your babies are fine.
