I thought the writing was very clever but the book draggggggggged for me after the first 1/4 or so. I honestly stopped caring and I didn't love the WWE part. I started watching the show hoping they'd have taken the quick and witty dialogue from it but I couldn't get through the first episode and I gave up.

I felt like this book was something I really could have liked but didn’t. I think it was the WWE themes. I wish she could have had a different kink niche.

She did explain this somewhere in the book. When Margo didn’t like her choices she would switch to third person, there was some literary reason she wrote about how writers would do this. I had no idea what this book was about when I read it and really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed this read, and I too am old. I've suggested it to my adult daughter.

I'm looking forward to the TV series.

I read this last year and was surprised that I was able to enjoy it despite being much older than the main character and not liking her choices.

I picked this up only because I saw previews for the tv adaptation recently and was surprised at how much I liked it. Looks like a breezy easy read judging by the brightly illustrated cover but it goes deep while being funny and sharp all along

Things I liked -

Show not Tell - did this so so well

Flawed and believable characters

Sharp commentary and insights into many things - difficulties of single motherhood, male vs female sexuality, social media, feminism, Mother Mary too

So much of the narrative was spun around the work of taking care of a baby - nursing, soothing, sleep, feeding - realistic but not dull

Margo the protagonist was let down by so many of the people around her - parents, the Professor who impregnated her, her former best friend but she doesn’t come off as bitter or angry at them

Didn’t like -

Ending kind of wrapped up abruptly but guess it had to end some way ultimately

The sex work that Margo did in OnlyFans was something that would have long term impact on her mental well being but it was kind of dismissed lightly

The tv show preview doesn’t look like a true adaption of the book, it would have been better adapted as a movie than a long series
