They should be optional for those who do not want to carry their phone. The last thing I want to do is carry another thing with me around school. My cell phone is in my pocket 100% of the time and if there is an emergency I am able to call 911. What a waste of tax payer money, we could have used it for more teachers or truancy officers to get kids to go to school.

They’re a symbol of our country’s (and county’s) shame. I’m going to write to my school board member and ask how much money we spent that could have been used elsewhere.

These badges do triangulate location, and are the updated version of the ones that saved lives in Georgia.

These badges work. We are lucky to have them.

I think it’s great. Certain staff in our school have them and they can use them if they can not get to a phone to call 911. I wish this world didn’t need them - but we do.

I don’t know but several went off by accident today when staff were still setting theirs up but instead activated the alert since they were live today. It works- police show up quick!

According to this press release, staff will have to carry around emergency panic buttons thanks to a company called Raptor, but it does “not replace calling 911”. Does anyone know how much this costs? Is this just more security theater, or will it do any good?
