Expensive sunglasses, "brand name" bags (my vintage ones are less $ and I get way more compliments on them), Stanley cups and the like. Apple watch (no desire). Fancy cars (and the cars I do buy I run into the ground).

+1 on the second two. We do have a beach house though, and while we don’t get to use it as much as I’d like, I’m still glad to have it.

Warby Parker or other online places will help you save money on prescription glasses. I have a really strong prescription and my glasses from my eye doctor used to cost $500. Now they are $150.


Alas my prescription is also really strong and Warby Parker wouldn't make glasses for me and I have been grumpy about that. I can afford that and of course I need glasses so it is what it is.

Good point. I should try that. I’m glad there is more competition in the glasses space.
