Subject: First Birthday Gift Suggestions
books - especially ones that you like, duplos (they'll be able to use those in about 6 months), I like green toys for that age - they have an assortment of boats/planes/trucks/bath toys. Or a gift card - one year olds still need a lot of diapers. I disagree with bob books - they are for learning to read, not for being read to.

I started give these as baby gifts and every recipient has reached out to me when their kid is around a year old and said how much use they get out of it. They're small and even if the family has something similar (or has one exactly), it's a good thing to have more than one of.

I'll assume that you don't want to spend hours carefully researching the best books and toys, and you just want to grab something from Amazon or Target.
Board books (anything by Sandra Boynton is a good choice. Otherwise, I'd recommend any book in the "That's not my . . ." series from Usborne)

Onesies from one or both of the parents’ Alma maters would be fun. Size 18 month for any clothes would be a safe bet.

I'd decline and send them a toy they can grow into - water table, building blocks, clunky train set,....tons of options with various price points.

Do rich people give each other's toddlers Doordash gift cards? It seems unlikely that these 12 month olds are going to order Doordash, so the card ould be a gift for the parents. I don't think that's a thing in wealthy families.
I agree that books are nice. My kids really also liked toys you could fill, move and dump at that age. A dump truck with duplos. A shopping basket with play food etc . . .

We've only met the babies once, so we don't have a ton to go off of when picking gifts.
