I think you are over thinking this. Quality of sleep for a puppy? This is more about training and making the situation liveable for you if you are working from home, I assume.

Make the crate very pleasant, tasty treats or chewies, etc, then you have to put up with the whining. You can cratetrain the pup, just don't expect it to be seamless.

It has genuinely not occurred to me to even think about my puppy’s nap quality, except to make sure I take him out when he wakes up from one.

We are first time dog owners, and recently adopted a 8-month old puppy. We finally figured out her pottery training schedule, but sleeping has been challenging.

Currently, she takes nap on the floor under kitchen table during daytime, we suspect that’s how she napped before as she was in a family home with other 5 dogs. Since we work from home, and walk around during the day, her nap quality hasn’t been very good.

Ideally, hope to transition her to sleep in crate during the day for all her naps to improve her quality of sleep.

What has worked for your dog? What’s the setup? What crate training strategy has worked for your family, esp. For dogs who were not trained properly previously? We tried to lure through treats, but think she is smart enough to know the treats is for her to sleep in crate and she doesn’t like that.

Thanks.
