I just got highlights and was immediately disappointed with the results: my highlights looked orange/brassy rather than ashy/sandy as reflected in the pictures I shared with my stylist. I sent the pictures weeks in advance and then reviewed right before the color.

I reached out to her a few hours after the service saying I liked the highlights but I noticed some brassiness, and asked for a correction. She said “you don’t like the caramel color and want something cooler?” I indicated the tone was warm and I wanted to cool it off. She kept intimating that there was a miscommunication about what I wanted/that what I had done was “caramel.” I’ve asked some friends to assess, and they agree - it looks brassy. I also have looked at brassy v non-brassy dye jobs. My hair is orange, not caramel.

She offered to “cool it off” with a toning treatment but I’m considering ditching her entirely. I worked in customer service for many years, and even if I disagreed with the customer’s assessment, I would never argue the point or try to make it seem like it was their fault.

I know this is minor in the scheme of things but I resent the lack of accountability and the seeming shift of blame to me/my communication rather than her just offering to make it right.
