I would be prepared for this and if you don't like it, move on

I have a Patrick and I only know of one other Patrick in his grade (public middle school). It’s probably more common in Catholic schools, as it’s a family name in my (Irish Catholic) family.
I love the name — strong, classic, but not so common that it’s overused.

My kids are at parochial school and EVERY little white boy is John, James, or Patrick.
The Hispanic boys are all Mateo.

PP mom of Patrick here. Pat is a great nickname! But only older people (over 60?) have called him that. Even his brothers call him Patrick

I would assume youre Catholic. So just know that will be people’s assumption if you care. Nicknames arent great for a young child. Pat or Paddy.

I have an uncle and a couple cousins named Patrick (my granddad was from Ireland). It's a solid name.

I like it better as a middle name.
It always reminds me of the SNL skit "It's Pat!"

I have a 14 year old Patrick. In his New England parochial school, there were a 9 year old and 5 year old Patrick’s. 3 Patrick’s among 120 kids.
I love the name! I named him for Patrick Swayze, honestly. But it’s a family name too.

What do you think of the name Patrick for a baby to be born in 2026? I knew several throughout my growing up (I’m 40) but you don’t hear it much on kids these days (right?). and spouse and I agree it’s a strong and classic name that everyone knows yet it’s not too common. It’s currently our front runner name but thought I’d get some anonymous opinion before we settle on it.
