1. It's a hassle and $ to get it and stay on it.
2. People only lose a percentage of their body weight so many people go on it and are still not "thin" or whatever you are expecting to see.

You realize that's an enormous amount of people in a nation of our size who are in a much healthier place right?

My mom has been on a GLP1 for a very long time (she has type 2 diabetes). It's brought her BMI down significantly but she is still obese, just not morbidly obese.

Raises hand. I am obese. I just started a GLP-1 a couple of weeks ago. Took my third dose today. Doing nothing for me so far. Will see if the higher doses help. I was scared. And it felt like cheating. I have lost significant amounts of weight in the past through diet and exercise. Haven't had a period in 9 months and it is just so much harder now. My doctor convinced me to give it a try. I know one person who tried it and it did not work for them. I know another who tried and could not tolerate the side effects. My insurance only covers it for diabetes. I can afford it but many people would not be able to.

Just because people are losing weight, doesn't mean that they're going to be thin. If you start at 300 you probably won't get down to 135.

Honestly I'm surprised when I see overweight people and wonder why they aren't on the drugs.

Judgey much? Are you a healthy thin observer?
Not everyone is eager to take on the unknown long-term side effects of drugs.
Not everyone feels the necessity to look like a runway model.

The fact that you "see so many" obese people has nothing to do with what actual data says about obesity rates. Do some very basic googling if you want.

Expensive and often not covered by insurance plans.
So you have people who are fortunate in having insurance, which is probably associated with being able to afford opportunities to exercise and eat a fairly healthy diet — and then you have everyone else. The number of obese people probably is going down though, at least somewhat.

You would think with all these weight loss drugs there would be fewer obese people, but I still see so many.
