Sam Adams or Yeungling. Blue Moon is a wheat beer and some don't like that.

Yuengling always seems to go quickly at our summer gatherings

We typically do Peroni or Stella for this. Plus maybe the current-at-the-time Sam Adams seasonal.

The Port City variety pack is good (and is actually a variety of different types of beers). However, one of them is an IPA and one is dark (Porter), if those are offensive to you.

Wheat ales, lagers or pisners are what you’re looking for and there’s a good range.

Asian/Japan/Thailand/ China -Sapporo, Kirin, Singha , Tsing Tao
German - Hefeweizen or wittbier, Paulaner, Hofstra, Weihenstaner
Belgium - Leffe blonde, Stella Artois, Duvel , Delirum is my favorite but it’s a much stronger taste
Italian - Peroni, Moretti, Menebrea
Mexican - Corona

If you wanted something a little darker than pale or blonde ales but not as dark as a stout like Guinness, there are some good amber and red ales. From England Old Specked Hen and Sam’s Nut Brown Ale are good. From Canada or the US Boont Amber Ale is good.

Since my generation (genx) built the craft beer industry but we all got fat from drinking imperial ipas, the industry has shifted to a lot of pilsners, kolschs and other mild beers. Going that route would still have class, but the beers would be drinkable to a mass audience. Denizens has a great bohemian Pilsner, dc brau pilsner is good, solace has a great session (ipa flavor but around 4.5% abv). Any of these can be found at a local store, but really any Pilsner or kolsch from a dmv craft brewery will work.

I like hosting and am always stressed about choosing the beer. (My husband and I have different preferences). Good friends coming over for dinner and patio hang out I would be happy with a selection of any of the following,

-Dogfish Ale - Slightly Mighty (low cal)
-Lagunitas: IPA, Lil Sumpin
-Devils Backhone - Vienna LAger
-Bells Two Hearted
-Bear Republic Racer 5
-Stone IPA
-Non Alcoholic Athletic

If you are fancy - Maine beer Company Lunch is the way

I don't think there is one beer that would satisfy everyone. I would pick up 3 different 4 packs.

You do not have an idea and that's fine. Your upscale options are no different than coors or miller lite and no guiness/ipas aren't offensive. Maybe pick up some variety packs from a local brewery. Most breweries put out 12 packs with a 3 or 4 different types (I guess it depends where you are located).

Nobody wants disgusting IPAs anymore, especially at a casual gathering at someone's house. That fad is dead.

If you do this, make sure they are actually different. Some breweries will have the IPA, the other IPA, the Juicy IPA, and the double IPA in a pack. Not the broad appeal you're looking for. Generally the variety pack is a solid idea, though.

I am on the road a lot for work. Heineken, Red Stripe, and Corona seem to be always listed on 4-star hotel, airline, airport lounge, and upscale restaurant menus as premium beers.
