I’ve dealt with gerd for years. I’ve cut out carbonation, try to avoid eating late, avoid too much spice, cut out Indian and pizza which trigger it the most, limit to one cup of black coffee, and have lost some weight. There are no changes. I still get heartburn when stomach empty, or when I’ve eaten. On and off all day.
My gastro does a scope every two years and puts me on Prilosec each time, and it helps SO much but I seem unable to ever go off it!! I step down and sure enough am shortly back to gerd.
I am worried about the dementia risks of Prilosec ibut I have no idea what else to do, I’m miserable if not on it taking a ton of tums that only partially help. Has one succeeded in battling gerd? Any tips or ideas?
