See what I posted above and stop trying to troubleshoot two problems at once.

Use a wired connection. Does your Internet service drop? If so, then you have an ISP problem. If not, then you have a wi-fi problem.

In my case the wifi on my laptop is failing, so just the computer wifi will drop. Does it drop for all your devices at once?

Get a deauth identifier. It's a simple tool that detects attacks on your wifi. Deauthers are common and in my neighborhood there are adults who live to use these things.

I have had Xfinity for years, both cell phone service and internet. Other than occasional brief outages such as maintenance/construction I have had good, reliable service.

Thanks, all. Dropped another Zoom this morning and spent an excruciating hour on Xfinity chat. Allegedly, my modem is an older generation and "was not provisioning," whatever that means, and the tech waved some wands and had me unplug everything a few times and ... we will see what happens.

You also want to check if you are using 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz.

5 GHz has shorter range but not impacted as much by other devices.

If you are on 2.4 GHz, try switching to 5 GHz.

Windows Update bugs do this on certain hardware software combos. Ask Gemini which.

You need to eliminate the wireless connection as a potential point of failure. Try using wired connections for a bit. If the service drops out, then you have a router or ISP issue. If not, then you have a wireless issue. In the former case, call the provider. In the latter case, try different channel assignments, frequency bands (2.4, 5, or 6 GHz), or replace the access point(s) entirely.

Wi-fi extenders are usually unreliable. The better option would be multiple wired access points. The less-bad option would be a mesh system. Obviously, wired connections are ideal.

My wifi has cut out 1-2 times a day each day for the last week. Sometimes it reconnects within a minute, other times it will not reconnect and comes back only after I do a restart. I ran the service test through my wifi provider app and my router and modem are working fine. I did a Windows update on my laptop, checked the network driver which says it is installed and working, and checked the manufacturer website which ran a scan of my laptop and reported I have the most current driver installed.

Any other ideas what could be up?
