My kid is playing in this weekend's tournament in Sterling. There is a separate website (only accessible after a Google account login) with more information. It looks like there is a 15/16s division with three or four teams (three of those teams are NVVA, I think. A fourth team is listed but doesn't appear on the match schedule). The 13/14s division has six teams (four from NVVA).

I really don't know what to expect, but I'll try to remember to share more next week if there is anything memorable.

Probably not worth bumping this thread, but the tournament at NVVA yesterday was fine. I mean, these are house/travel-lite teams, so the level of play on that level. There were only two non-NVVA teams among the 10 teams playing. The four-team 15/16 division was all NVVA. The facility is OK, I guess. There are six "regular" courts and one beach court. Free guest wi-fi. All matches were livestreamed for free ... as far as I could tell. Although they weren't using something fancy like AES or SportWrench, you could follow results on a Google document and a whiteboard within the venue. You could buy a few snacks and maybe some clothing, but you're within a mile or two of the usual NoVA fast food offerings. Wegman's is within a a short drive as well.

Is the level of competition for NVVL somewhere between rec and club? What kind of player is it best suited for?

I haven't been this year, but went last year. Tickets are free, which is nice. They usually have a food truck but you'll probably want to run out for food. As long as it's not a Sunday, there's plenty of parking at the church lot. Definitely bring chairs. It typically runs all day, depending on how well your team does if you're in the finish playoff matches.

No specific questions. I'm just wondering what to expect (beyond the overall level of play) ... particularly in comparison to CHRVA one-days. Number of teams participating, number of matches, will I be there all day.

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been to one but they are small. The level of play is lower and mixed but you are expecting that with a “travel-lite” team. What specific questions do you have?

Any insights on NVHL (?Northern Virginia House League?) tournaments hosted by/at NVVA? How different are these events from CHRVA one-days? My youngest will be playing in her first "travel-lite" tournament there in mid-April.
