I feel the same way. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?), no one at work addresses me by email this way.

I agree with "sincerely" because it is respectful, professional without being stuffy. "All best" for informal and "cheers" for a friend.

You might like the following article which has comments from 2 business communication professionals:

I work in HR and personally "Cheers" really rubs me the wrong way. I guess I feel like we should be clinking glasses. I like Regards or Warmest Regards for business purposes.

99% of the time it's "Thanks".

I vary. Cheers or Best for informal, Sincerely for slightly more formal. I feel like sincerely is kind of a lost phrase. I like it and use it a lot.

I frequently use "Best" but have a few friends that use "Cheers" which I think is cute. I also use "Thank you" a lot if it is more formal.

If it's a work e-mail, I usually sign off with "thank you."

True-- when a school related email perhaps "regards" or something more business like is best.

Depends -- who are you writing to? I mean, to whom are you writing?

I no longer work, and am struggling with the best salutation for emails, etc. Do you like "Best" or "Warmly" or "Regards" or "Sincerely" other ideas?
