Reston Raiders doesn't have a girls-only House team that plays other girls team.

Like others have said, don't be intimidated by the term "travel" in ice hockey. Find a B or lower A girls team, and it should be basically a fun, lowkey rec-type team.

Navy does have a growing "Academy" house program that includes specific girls practices, but that's way too far for you.

Especially with boys in house league, it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Look for the lowest level (bronze) cbhl girls teams. They’re basically house.

There is no girls house hockey. It's far for you, but Ice Dogs has a pretty good program that is very low key and more focused on fun. Not sure how much travel is involved at this point as they have been rebuilding.

We’re in eastern Loudoun County - closest programs are Loudoun, Ashburn, and Reston.

Ringette is extremely competitive. Sure there are rec level teams but it's just as intense as hockey.

I know this isn't what you asked, but my 14U DD plays on a co-ed rec team at Medstar/Arlington. Its a house team and no checking allowed.

My daughter likes playing ice hockey for fun. Just for fun - she doesn't want to put extra work in, she is not good enough to make a girls travel team and never will be and she's fine with that. She just enjoys playing and wants to do it purely for fun. For a few years our nearby program's co-ed House program was fine - things weren't very serious, she had fun, she marginally improved, and she was happy after every game. The past two seasons, however, the boys have been getting bigger and more aggressive even in House, and while she says she still enjoyed her games, I could tell it wasn't on the same level as she had in the past. I asked her if she'd prefer to just play with girls, and she said yes. But again, as I said, she has neither the skills nor the interest to do travel.

Is there anything like a House program anywhere in the area, or some other kind of "just for fun" program for girls, or is travel the only way to be in a girls-only program? My daughter is 12, if relevant, and will be aging up to 14u in the fall (another reason to be concerned about staying in co-ed House with boys who are only getting bigger).
