Having a ten-letter name as a kid was a chore. My parents were insistent on Jacqueline. In middle school, I adopted Jackie (and now Jac is my NN), but my parents never got on board. So if you decide on Jacqueline (which I now like as an adult), please allow your young child to enjoy a shortened name.

Jacqueline is a beautiful name, and not hard to spell or say. Jackie is a cute nickname. Nobody but the most ignorant would spell it Jackalynne.

Don't dumb down the name you want because other people are stupid.

Anything could get spelled wrong. I am a teacher and have seen all kinds of names and their spelling.

I would have the info typed out ready to provide vs just saying "Jacqueline." Hopefully, DH can provide the paper to staff.

I don't think a child is well served by giving them a nickname as their given name. Let them have a more formal name to grow into if they want it.

Both! I love a name that can grow with someone. I don’t think Jacqueline would be spelled wrong. It’s very common and there aren’t other spellings.

The first one.

Jacqueline is the most recognized spelling.

Use Jacqueline as the formal/official name and Jackie as the nickname. My niece has that name and she has switched between the two and now uses Jacqueline as her work name and Jackie for family and friends.

I like both but think Jacqueline is too long and will consistently be spelled wrong.
