Do you have a specific title to recommend?

I just now looked him up on Wikipedia. I knew he wrote the book that was the basis for the TV show the Waltons. Wikipedia says he also created the TV show Falcon's Crest. And he wrote 9 books during his lifetime.
I had no idea he did anything more than the Waltons.

Reading several of his less heralded fiction books. Interesting and uplifting. Recommended. Library likely has some.
