GT has an accelerated 5-year BS/MS that many OOS students complete in 4 years. Definitely something to consider.

You're talking about two well-respected schools, regardless of major. Totally different environments. Go with fit.

GT is engineering on an industrial scale. UVA is closer to boutique. There can be plusses and minuses to both.

I have a love in my heart for UVA, but yes I would absolutely pass on it for GT CS/Engineering.

My DS chose GT over UVA Rodman for engineering

Rodman students have access to a few courses that are not generally available to all. Big advantages are better first year dorm / peer group and preferential access to desired courses and times (Rodman schedule requests are processed before everyone else in Engineering.)

Not a bad idea at all. Worth thinking about.

Many students in CS get a Masters eventually (partly to avoid the glass ceiling effect where someone with a Masters gets picked over someone without at promotion time).

Separately, H1B visas require a masters or phd, so immigrant competition will have a graduate STEM degree.

I wouldn't say UVA CS is "weak", but its certainly not GT. Not a huge difference in COA of attendance. UVA - $51k. GT - $54k

similar CS options w/ other choices like UMD etc. Still waiting for Ivies, but GT is the top choice and UVA is out.

Georgia Tech is a phenomenal school. It really depends on your finances.

Both CS and UVA is instate. The chance for admission in other schools is low so this would be the two choices for DC.
