I had an Asko one last 10 years

We have a bosch and it's lasted pretty well. We just had a guy out to fix it and he said that the bosch ones are the absolute best, especially the higher end models. FWIW, he said to scrape ALL the food pieces off the plates, but you don't need to rinse off sauces. He also said to rinse out protein shake glasses well -- a lot of people have filter/pump problems because the protein powder stuff is gunking up the gears.

(If anyone's wondering why it needed to be fixed -- I think I didn't lock the filter in place correctly. Then a glass broke and a piece of the glass got past the filter and broke the filter pump. So that was a $300 mistake on my part. Make sure your filter is locked in tight!)

Seconding! Bought one for my last home in 2008 and it was still there when the place went up for sale in 2019. Bought one for my current home in 2012 and we just sold it because we're renovating the kitchen and getting a panel-ready one.

Bosch is good but miele is really the wsy to go with dishwashers.

Miele and bosch. I run mine 3 times a day sometimes and every day otherwise. Still going strong after 10 yrs on Bosch and 27 years on Miele.

It’s actually 7 years old! Did my math wrong. So there you go. Hopefully it didn’t stop working in the next few weeks.

You don’t need to rinse your dishes. Chunks yes, sauces/oils no.

Miele is worth the $.

I had the same issue, same brand. I rolled the dice and it’s fine again for the next 5 years. The repair guy said that this is so common. He was confident that the $500 repair would work and it has. Good luck.

Our kitchen aid is going on 17 years with just 1 repair we did ourselves.

My 6 year old kitchenaid dishwasher needs a new motor. It’s $500 to replace, so it’s probably a better decision to purchase a new one. This will be my 3rd dishwasher in 11 years. My other GE one died at 5 years. Any recs for a reliable and longer lasting one? Or am I better off just buying a midrange whirlpool or Maytag instead of spending over $1000 for a brand like Kitchenaid? Other option is roll the die and fix current one.
