No, not odd at all.

But it has to be done right, which can be tricky.

Could you say more about how to do it 'right'?

I don't know if this is "right" but I like to buy prints at museums that have the name of the exhibition or the museum on them. I have a couple from the Matisse Museum in Nice that I bought during my study abroad summer in 1994.

I also recently bought a poster at a David Byrne concert--he commissioned posters by local artists from cities in the tour. Haven't framed that one yet though.

I grew up with two Matisses in our den, and nobody ever said anything negative.

OP, personally I love using mirrors to bounce light around a room, and love really calm artwork in various shades of blue. The brain is calmed by seeing odd numbers rather than even, so that's why triptychs are popular.

Also try “At Home”. Reasonable items you can see in person.

Just turned a moved out of the house kids room into a guest room. I bought flat basket/trays from Hobby Lobby and Amazon and created a collage about the bed. On another wall I bought a couple of 6 packs of prints from HL as well and framed them in frames from my Goodwill and SVDP thrifting hauls. Lots of compliments! If you're anti HL, you could source these elsewhere I'm sure

Make sure you have a decent sized mirror in the room, and a series of non-bold prints art over the head of the bed. Less is better. Make sure there is a place to put a suitcase in case they don't want to unpack.

Etsy. There’s a lot of mix and match that make it easy — if you need it easy.

Charish is also great

IKEA if they happen to have anything you like.

Sometimes Homegoods and Target have surprisingly nice prints. It's very random.

Artfully walls—I think the website is called. Anthropologie has good pictures for walls. Some are very expensive but you can find sales.

We are converting a room in our home into a guest room. I have all of the furniture I need, but empty walls. Any suggestions for low cost options for wall art/decor?
