My child has received good learning supports at SR. You have to get testing first and then accommodations are put in place and maintained--notecards, extended time... Mild to medium learning differences are supported.

They are both difficult to get into. But Visitation is usually more difficult to get into than Stone Ridge in part because of strong legacy admissions at Visitation. If there are documented learning differences and accommodations in your daughter’s school records she probably won’t be accepted to Visitation. Just too competitive. Stone Ridge might accept someone with documented learning differences. But unlikely without a compelling resume.

How does Visi compare?

We found SR mixed about learning support. the teachers didn’t seem to always know/understand/work with our ADHD/dyslexic student, although the middle school learning specialist (now retired) was excellent.

+1 had a conversation with SR admin a few years ago to discuss fit re: DD with dyslexia/ADHD/giftedness. They have been working on strengthening supports but they are not as far along as some other schools. Some families make it work but it takes a fair amount of advocacy from the students and parents.

No. If you want a Catholic girl’s school, Holy Child is known for being more accommodating of learning differences. The trade off is less emphasis on measurable academic achievement at Holy Child. Not criticizing either school, they serve very different students and families with very different goals.

I provide educational therapy for several SR girls. Their learning support team is excellent and implements accommodations effectively but they don’t provide intensive intervention in house. So that would be a fairly significant additional expense. The curriculum is very rigorous and the girls work very hard and are taught to think critically.

The MS and US are both rigorous. Usually by 7th or 8th grade, it is clear whether a student can keep up or needs to look elsewhere.

Stone Ridge can handle very mild differences, for example if you have a neuropsych that indicates extra time is needed for tests, they will allow it and make sure you get extra time on tests, but not on anything else.

Beyond that there isn't much assistance. They are very nice though and many girls have ADHD and have a great time. But there is not any hand holding.
