This. I think knowing her fear is valid, there are things you can do to stay safe and deal with the aftermath, and she can learn and practice those things might help.

I’m 49 and terrified of tornado. We do not have the sirens, basements (for the most parts) but you do what you can OP

Might I recommend The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee? Fun musical that references tornadoes. Perhaps not age appropriate, but oh well. Tell her to hold on to her stockings!

I am also terrified. I'm from CA, I know as much as a 10 yo when it comes to what to do in a tornado. Comfort her, tell her you'll keep her safe and explain that your house has a foundation and will not be ripped away into the sky.

10 year old DD figured out that her school had an early release day due to weather concerns, including POSSIBLE tornado-related matters. This isn’t good for her to be aware of, simply because she is really afraid of tornadoes lately. She saw “The Wizard of Oz” last month and I don’t know if she’s really deduced that it’s not a documentary quite yet! lol. But I do feel bad for my child, she’s so scared of a tornado coming. How do I reassure her? This is kinda time sensitive, so PLEASE respond.
