Close, but not as close as that.

Madison to Oakton 1.4 miles
Oakton to Fairfax 2.0 miles
Fairfax to Woodson 2.9 miles

Langley to McLean 2.6 miles

Sometimes there is not enough room in the school for all those who are close.

One reason Chantilly is popular is because all the students do live close. However, there are many students who live very close to the school but are sent miles away because there is no room.

I suspect there are other schools that may have the same issue at all levels--elementary through high.

Yea right. lol. Distance and walkability is not a priority for fcps. We have boundaries that make no sense that may keep changing

I am not aware of any such rule or any weighting factor outside of what is in policy 8130. Of course, the closer you are to a school the more likely you are to be assigned to that school.

FCPS has introduced perpetual uncertainty into the process. If you want predictability, reliability, and peace, you should look outside of the county or go private.

When boundaries are decided, is it true that all addresses within 2 miles distance of a high school are/will be associated with that high school? Is distance/travel time the first criteria followed by demographics? Is it 1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles? How does it work?
