Hi all,
I'll try to not make this another "where to go for testing post". We were advised that our 7th grader DC should get updated testing, as the original testing was from 1st grade. It makes sense, as they have doubled in age. The request for retesting is not rooted in a concern that there is an undiagnosed condition. DC has a pretty solid case of ADHD and is medicated. But I agree there is benefit to a fresh look at this age before another, mandated by the college boards, will be required if I understand correctly.
I guess my question is - is it better to go back to the same place / person or to go to a new place / person for the testing? I have to say our original tester was great and the report cogent and thorough. I'm just not sure we gelled in the end, and they seemed upset we asked for such a succinct version of the report to give to the school. Also isn't there a confirmation bias when it comes to retesting? And for that reason is it better to go someplace else for a fresh look on all fronts? Or would the first thing the new tester asks for anyway is the old report (which would seem useful and fair) so that confirmation bias cannot really be avoided?
Last question, I assume that the testing will be medicated? Our DC does not go on and off meds as it causes causes a bump in side effects.
Thanks for any BTDT insight!
