The "saver" award price is 15k mles each way so 30k/ticket = 60k for 2. THat's the lowest miles cost you'll find on that route (IAD-ATL) for United.

That same flight about $400-ish round trip in economy.

Also try Delta (if you're using card miles that are transferrable) as it's their hub and they run a lot more flights. United has 4 a day but Delta has a lot more, espcially across BWI/DCA/IAD.

I’d use the points. It feels like redemption values keep climbing so they’ll never be worth as much as they are right now

There aren't that many deals anymore - ofen the miles translate directly to the $. Yours isn't bad it is 70k miles for $900

$450 is more than usual to fly RT to Atlanta so I’d use the miles. 35K miles RT per ticket is not that bad and you have a ton of miles.

It's not the absolute best use of them, but if you don't have another upcoming use, I'd rather keep $900 in my account than not. Points bookings on United are also fully refundable, so you could rebook later if the miles price drops.

Yeah that's about right. If this is a holiday weekend that's a pretty normal price.

You could go to Hawaii for 300,000 miles. Just saying.
