Great suggestion. I travel to Dublin often as we have family there. New Grange is amazing and well worth the trip

I really like the Hyatt Centric Dublin. The hotel is in a great location, easy to get around but not too loud and busy. Their breakfast is really good. It runs around $250-300/night.

I like history and my favorite sites were Kailmanhaim Goal, the Little Museum of Dublin, and the National Museum to see the bog bodies. Also, with 5 days, you should definitely get out of the city and see some of the countryside. It’s beautiful and there are so many day tours. Howth and Glendalaough are probably the closest places to do some beautiful and easy hikes.

The Dylan is great but slightly out of the way to the South. The Merrion is also great and very central. Both around the top of your budget.

The national archaeological museum is a must, as is a hike in Howth.

We stayed at the Arlington Hotel which is convenient for walking around. I thought it was pricey at the time but it was under your budget. We did a hawk walk at Dublin Falconry which was fascinating and definitely unique. We drove there so i am not sure on transport if you don't have a car.

I stayed at mespil hotel a few years ago. The neighborhood was very easy to get around and it wasn’t expensive!

The Shelbourne is a Marriott property. Lovely hotel. If you visit Knowth, check out Newgrange if you're into history at all - it's a burial ground older than the pyramids. The #1 tourist destination in Dublin is the Guinness Storehouse tour which is worth a visit if nothing else to have a pint at the Gravity Bar with a great view. If you're interested in the Bible at all, the book of Kells and library on the grounds of Trinity College is worth a visit. We've been to Dublin several times. The only restaurant we truly loved has closed.

I like the Chancery -- new hotel, on the south side of the river, short walk to the Liberties, Grafton Street, Temple Bar, Trinity College Dublin, St Stephen's Green, etc. The immediate area (like the surrounding block) is modern-office-building generic but a pedestrian entrance to the Dublin Castle complex is at the end of the block. I've stayed there twice and I think our room, for two people, ran less than 250 euros/night.
