I have reported people for tax evasion, though to be fair, they were people how had been really terrible to me in the past. I just stumbled upon their tax evasion, but because I loathed them, I had zero guilt over reporting it. FAFO.

If it was someone I felt neutral about or liked, I don't know. I might just ignore it. I do agree with others that tax evasion hurts everyone, and that's certainly what I told myself when I *gleefully* reported those jerks, but usually I'm a mind-your-own-business sort of person so I'm not sure.

Do you justifiably dislike your neighbor? If yes, I support. you! If not, think about whether you want to poison the well or just let this go.

Why assume the worst? When you move there’s lots to take care of and maybe this just fell off their radar. Yes, they absolutely should have taken care of it long ago and need to deal with it now. Live in Virginia. A couple moved in next door a year or so ago. Haven’t met them — they keep to themselves, whatever.

One has a car with Wisconsin plates. One with California plates. I suppose they could be exempt but we live in Western Loudoun so I doubt they work on the Hill or are in the military.

I ended up behind the car with California plates today at a stop sign as we both pulled out of our driveways at the same time. The plates expired in June 2024.

I am normally a live and let live person, but tax avoidance costs everyone more. Would you report this if you were in my shoes? I am trying to decide…
