A consultant told us she's never had a full pay family rejected from Speyer. They do this 2hr evaluation, but it's mainly for show.

They go from 30 to 45 in 6th.

Gifted identification is a scam, and I say this as the parent of two kids frequently flagged as “gifted.”

1/3 of the class doesn't join in 6th. They take approx 30 in K. A few leave for Hunter after 6 and a few add. The amount of people who are so uncomfortable with a school for gifted kids is just funny. Gifted kids brains work differently. Not 2E. Giftedness on its own is a neurodiversity. They do a 2 hour assessment that's their own modified testing (that pulls from WPPSI, SB etc. From what I gather). Why are they great? They have a 6:1 student/teacher ratio. The kids take chess, debate, Spanish, dance, maker lab, and art in addition to the regular stuff as core classes. They have 0 ceiling to their differentiation so wherever kids go to they can accommodate. I hear some years they have 8th graders taking Calc. Their 7th graders trade real stocks. I know Kindergarten tackles the Odyssey....
They do a ton of SEL and Executive functioning stuff because the gifted kids need it. Highly recommend. Their exmissions are awesome because they are a good school.

Yes but it’s a TON of testing schools; also like 1/3 of the class joins in 6th. So even by the standards of K-8 schools it’s highly debatable whether Speyer is actually doing anything for your kid or simply has a good admissions pool because people love to be told their kid is “gifted.”

I do not believe there are any single sex girls schools that only go until 8th grade (someone can correct me if I am wrong). Many of the schools that are k-8 are single sex boys schools.

For a variety of reasons, I'm interested in having my child apply to K-8 private schools next year. Looking for a place that's nurturing while still remaining rigorous. Open to single sex girls school recommendations as well.
