I have a similar size house and our cleaning lady requested that we purchase a Shark upright. I notice that she flip flops between using the Shark upright and our central vacuum system. We have an attachment kit on all three levels of the house so she doesn't have to schlep hoses and accessories around the house.

We had a previous service that used the backpack vacuums on the wood floors and then a separate upright for our rugs. I think it comes down to preference.

FWIW I did notice that the regular Motörhead on our Dyson cordless vacs will cause the occasional scratches in hardwood. I think it's all the cheap plastic on the floor tool that ends up marring things over time. I haven't had the issue since I've become better with using the fluffy laser head on the wood floors.

My housecleaner uses what she wants (it's a backpack) but we keep a dyson stick on each floor. It's worth it to me. Honestly not for the charge as much as it just being easy to grab.

We have a Dyson on each floor, but our cleaning person prefers the canister vacuum and drags our shark up and down the steps. She specifically asked us to get that model. We have hardwoods downstairs with rugs and then a mix of carpet and wood upstairs.

Maybe ask which she prefers? The shark vacs are cheap but need more space to store of course.

First things first, if you can afford a 7000sq ft house, you can afford to have a vacuum cleaner for every floor of your house.

Second, I would never let a house cleaner use their own vacuum in my house. They need to use YOUR vacuum cleaner(s).

Buy the appropriate vacuum for your flooring.

I don’t remember the exact model, it was $500 on sale at Costco a few years back. I don’t think you need all the bells and whistles if you’re cleaning regularly.

PP- which Dyson stick do you keep on each floor? There's one that's $350 (which is I think the one we own already) and the rest are 800 or more. Does it make a big difference to get the more expensive one?

We have a large home (7000 sq feet). All hardwood floors aside from a few area rugs. Our cleaning person uses an older, clunky canister vacuum and my husband is convinced it's scratching the floors as they drag it all over the place. My husband would like us to buy a new one for the cleaning person to use but I don't know what to get. We already have a cordless Dyson stick vacuum but that would die if they tried to use it on all 3 floors. Should I just buy a second one and keep it on the top floor? And say they can use those for the hardwood floors and keep using the canister vacuum for the rugs?
Any other ideas? Thank you!
