This reminds me a bit of the "Me Too" Movement. Women were willing to go along with sexual harassment when it was good for their career, but then rose up in outrage once their career had already benefitted. If you put up with this behavior to improve your resume, you own it.

I had the same experience. It was cool to look at, but I didn't really enjoy eating it very much. Definitely a one time only thing and I wouldn't say that about other top restaurants.

Isn't this pretty common in the world of fine dining?

Is there any famous chef who isn't a complete a-hole?

I’m sorry to read this, but I’m also not surprised that a perfectionist chef is short tempered and runs a high pressure environment. I didn’t expect the punching and choking.

I have one of his cooking books and enjoy reading it.

Sometimes your squid with poppy seeds comes with a side of institutionalized torture I guess.

The place always gave “The Menu” vibes.

He's been a toral nightmare for years so am not surprised and don't think he has changed, just facing an overdue reckoning. Good.

Apparently everyone knew but the Danish government didn't do anything because victims were mostly foreigners, and a lot of them were terrified of being blackballed from their profession if they said anything...

... I guess it's time for the Kitchen Reckoning. Just like in other professions.
