It makes no difference because we are an automobile society. I used to take the subway but I had to drive there, pay for parking and ultimately it was cheaper to drive to work.

We will pay whatever we have to pay. Our cars are supposed to get 40 MPG on the open road and 25 in the city but with Air conditioning City is more like 18 MPG but I am not going to melt in the summer here

We have always managed our driving with an eye to gas prices, and we buy gas in Baltimore every week while one of our kids has practice there, since it's cheaper than in our wealthy DC suburb.

We can afford to pay more. We're just frugal-minded.

I’ll actually do some informal price checking before I buy but other than that there’s not much I can do. It’s not like I go-out driving for the fun of it.

So, what, you're not going to drive if gas prices hit $X? I don't get the question.

If I have to drive, I will pay what I have to pay. I might attempt to drive less when I can, but I can't stop driving.

Do I have a choice? Other than selling my car and buying an all electric vehicle I'm sort of locked into what I already own.
