We spent a day in Bratislava, Slovakia - the trip was to go to Salzburg and Bratislava but would love to go back to Vienna. It was beautiful, great food, easy to navigate.

Since we were there for two full days, and one was in Slovakia, we did the Big Bus tour to the Kunsthistorisches Museum and then Prater Wein. Have fun! Great city, hope to be back!

Wien. It's spelled Wien and pronounced Veen. Wein is wine and is pronounced Vine but more drawn out.

Got it! Give me some credit for getting Kunsthistorisches right!

Ha ha - I'm the one who posted that/spelled the park wrong! that iceberg ride is truly a classic family memory that we will be laughing about for the rest of our lives. We went in cold (didn't know anything about it) but what a riot.

Vienna is one of my favorite cities! Go to the Sigmund Freud Museum! The Jewish Museum is also great.

PP here the iceberg ride is classic. We live in Vienna and will go to prater just for that

Wien Therme is a great swimming complex, visit the easter markets (same locations as xmas markets). Do a hike near Nussdorf in the vinyards.

My 12 year old loved the amusement park. We also took an uber to a couple of wineries that were right outside of the city and that was lovely. At least in June.

I liked the Belvedere palace and especially the park. We also visited both Hofburg and Schonbrunn palaces (get tickets ahead of time) and my daughter liked the Sisi museum (part of hofburg) . We did a highlights tour of Schonbrunn, which was enough. For art the kunsthistorische museum is extraordinary with my favorite Vermeer. I went without my daugther to the Albertina to see a particular drawings show. We didn't go to the natural history museum but I hear it is also great. I also liked the Vienna Secession building with the Klimt friezes, my daughter was less impressed but fine with it because its not too big.

We rode trams around the ringstrasse, ate various pastries, and went to a Vivaldi concert at Karlskirche--that was perfect for my daughter, who is not necessarily a huge classical music fan but Vivaldi is easy listening and the church is a supreme example of Baroque glitz--she was suitably impressed, as was I.

We did do the Riesenbad (the ferris wheel) and felt it wasn't worth it and the rest of the amusement park didn't seem that great. We thought about doing a day trip to Hallstat, but didn't have enough time (we also went to budapest on this trip).

We spend a ton of time every summer in Vienna staying with family. +1 for the cheesy park. Do the scary ride that goes super high with the swings. You can see the whole city. We did mostly street food for meals - hot dogs (infected wieners or whatever they call them - hot dogs stuffed with cheese), fast casual (Dr Falafal is soo good). Spend time on or near the river, you can grab sandwiches and sit on a floating dock. Cafe Demel is touristy but the locals also love it and go. Click the button is also amazing for super affordable family pictures.
