They might not want to mess the neck area. My derm wouldn't do anything to the one by my knee because it might have involved the joint. I went to a regular surgeon for removal. My guess is the neck is more specialized.

My derm has told me the same thing- the cyst is on my back. I haven’t gone to a plastic surgeon for a consult yet.

I have a cyst in my neck that my dermatologist claims she can't remove and that I need to go to a plastic surgeon for. If I go this route is there even a possibility of it being covered by insurance?

The one plastic surgeon she recommended wants to charge a $150 consultation fee (does not apply to the actual removal) and either $600 to drain or $1200 to excise. Seems like a lot only to not be able to cover it with insurance.
