Your 14.5 year old has chest hair? I have a 15.25 year old and his did his check up. No chest chair. Only grew in the last year. He’s about 5’8” and definitely ok the short side. Guys seem to be gigantic now. If he has chest hair, he’s probably done growing. The ped said my son is now done so I hope he gets to sr least 5’11”.

Our family- men grow to age 20 or so, start late.

My almost 18-year old will likely. He was only 5’4” Freshmen year. He’s around 5’9”, really skinny- but he only started really growing about a year ago.

His brother left HS at 5’10” and is a 6’1” college sophomore. My brother was similar. I’m a woman that grew an inch in college .

The answer: it depends.

My 17-year old had a sports injury xray sophomore year and the orthopedist said he had a lot of growing left. He also got his adult teeth really late.

It really depends entirely on when he started puberty and where he is developmentally. If he had a growth spurt years ago, has a deep voice, full body hair etc he is probably done or close to it. If he was a late bloomer and only started taking off around 14-15, he probably has quite a bit of growth left. Also you can look at parent heights to get an estimate of where he should end up, although that is not always very reliable. I have one son who ended up shorter than expected based on parents, and one who ended up quite a bit taller than expected.

Did he lose his teeth early? Have his feet stopped growing for about 2 years? When did he have his growth spurt? If all of these things were on the early side then probably yes. My son is 14 and hasn’t started growing (5’ 3”) so these were the questions asked to determine later puberty.

Hard to tell - he might still be growing, might be done. My older son grew another inch or so from 16-17, but my younger son appears to be done at 15.

As a 5'8" woman married to a 5'8" man ... his height is just fine even if doesn't grow any more! I'm taller than most women and dated plenty of men down to 5'6". Anything shorter than that felt mismatched to me.

5.8 isnt short for a guy. My brother is 5'9 and never considered himself short or had any problem.dating. My husband is 5'10 or 5''11 and seems the same height as my brother. It matters most if he feels like he is tall. Seriously.

If straight he has to date girls shorter than him unless he's got something going on - very good looking, sucessfull, very funny and nice . But at 5'8, most girls will be shorter.

5'8 is fine for a guy's height. I think of 5'10 as the height where height becones a complete non-issue. So 5'8 is still very close.

Im 5'2 so.never cared about height in boyfriends. One great love of mine was not much taller than me. And i was relatively pretty;and very picky. Looks in boyfriends mattered but not height (as long as taller than me).

How old was he when he started puberty and his first major growth spurt? Also how tall are you and his other parent?

I know boys who continued to grow from age 17-20 ish but the ones I know had a family history of that. And started out at 14-15 looking really young and small in comparison to their family genetics. My daughter’s boyfriend was 17 in August and grew another inch this school year to 6’. But his parents are 5’8 and 6’2 and his brother continued to grow through college…

A) some kids do continue to grow B) as someone married to a guy who's 5'7'', I promise he'll be fine even if he doesn't.

Probably done growing. My 15yo DS hasn’t grown much in the past year either- maybe an inch (he is 5’9”). Pretty sure he is about done as well.
