Really hard to get now, very late in the process. You should reach out to any local contact you have to assist your child. I have found ivy league or not, it is very difficult to get a good internship right now.

Honestly, if they haven’t found an internship now for this summer, they should keep chugging at it, but look for a retail or service industry job. It’s a rough market out there.

They should also target smaller companies, work with their school career or internship office, work through connections of friends of friends and parents, and think broadly about getting just different experiences before graduation.

Best way is if you know someone who can take them on as an intern.

Sorry, I'm not very creative and these were the best opportunities I could think of.

I still think consulting / banking is a good choice for a college summer job. At the very least, your kid will be able to show off that he was qualified to get the job. And then in interviews going forward, your kid can say, "Oh, I didn't want it in the first place, I tried it, and I realized it's not for me."

I remember how amazing it was to live in DC as a summer intern …now it seems like there are fewer opportunities

My kid has a 4.0 at a type 5 Ivy League school and is still looking for summer work - Econ major who doesn’t want to go into the consulting/ banking path that has a well laid out recruiting path - more interested in policy , public good, academia
