What was really gross (and unsanitary!) was the way people had actual carpet installed in their bathrooms in the 60’s/70’s.

It looks fine w/o a rug but I like a rug in my bathroom just to step on something soft after showering so I have a bathroom rug in front of the sink/vanity.

I am still able to open & close the door fine with it - maybe because it has rubber lined on the bottom?

I’ve never had a bathroom mat by the sink but I agree the Toftbo ones are great and easy to launder. They drain better than the cotton ones so they don’t imbalance the washer.

IKEA Toftbo mats are thin, comfortable and washable (though move around somewhat).

Shave the door.

People who don't want to fall and crack their head open coming out of the shower.

Get someone to shave a quarter or half an inch off the bottom of the door. I had our contractors do this when we remodeled our bathroom because the door made it difficult to keep the rug in place. Then you can have whatever type rug you want.

I use a washable rug in my bathroom and it's pretty flat compared to the fuzzy rugs.

If the shower is used regularly I would put something in there so no one slips. Looks-wise, it's fine.

We have a tight bathroom, like this:



I can not find one that is small enough to fit and still open/close the door. Right now, we just aren’t using a rug, but as our main shared upstairs bathroom, it is cold on the feet and just looks like something is missing.

I bought a bath mat that sort of just fits, but it’s always sliding around and getting crumpled and it’s worse than nothing, so I abandoned that idea and now it’s just the bare floor. Is this ok? Thoughts?
