Agree with advice to tag along on the next outing and just observe. Do not direct or intervene. See if DS is sick after that outing. If not, ask him if there was anything different from previous outings.

My own grandma was like Typhoid Mary. Every single time I went, even in my 20s/30s, we got a stomach virus that ended with us vomiting and diarrhea. I'm positive she had something that just lived in her body and made everyone else sick. She lived 15 hours away from us and we'd only visit a couple times a year, but we always stayed with her because she had 3 guest bedrooms for us upstairs. And we liked helping her out with her house while we stayed there. She had a lot of issues with Gerd and diarrhea, so I think it affected her a little. As an adult I'd come in and scrub the house from top to bottom and disinfecting it when we arrived. I ended up in the hospital twice while visiting.

This would be funny if it didn’t seem like a real possibility for me, too, lol

Right? I can’t imagine what it could be. When I ask him what he’s eaten, it’s completely typical stuff. I’m wondering if it has less to do with food and more to do with him being overwhelmed/overstimulated somehow, and not being able to articulate that to me properly.

The issue is definitely not constipation. His BMs aren’t affected whatsoever. He just comes home, settles down, and then complains of feeling sick. Then, inevitably, he throws up and is malaise and unwell for the better part of the rest of that day. He typically doesn’t throw up any more than that one time.

WTF. This is bizarre and yes I absolutely would suspend visits. It could be anything from stuff him with sweets, eating something with fake sugar (is one of them diabetic or buys diet type foods?), something environmental (mouse poison, lead, moth balls, who knows), or far less likely but could be something intentionally nefarious going on.

But yes, I would absolutely suspend visits. She can visit at your house or meet up with you at museums and such.

Another day where DC is home sick after spending the evening with my mom.

This happens 9/10 times. DC will spend the afternoon/evening with my mom (parents) and will come home before bedtime, will complain of stomachaches before bed, and then will throw up either before bed, in the middle of the night, or like today, in the morning.

I’ve discussed this with my mom and we just can not pinpoint what could be causing this. She doesn’t feed him anything unusual, though I wonder if it’s “more” than usual? I’ve discussed with her feeding him less, and she says she now does, but he continues to come home with stomach aches that end up being pukes.

Is he just overwhelmed? What could this be? And, would you suspend visits for a while? I hate to do that, but this can’t keep happening. It’s been ongoing for about two years at this point.
