I worked at Netimus and I’m so sad about learning this! Echo Hill is similar, except for the bathroom and shower situation. It’s more rustic but it’s a great place to go!

Camp Twin Creeks in WV is wonderful. It has all the traditional camp activities, 4 hours away in the Allegheny Mountains near border of WV and VA, and they provide transportation from Reston to the camp and back if you want to take advantage of it. My favorite part was no cell phones - a nice break from technology.

Hi! Rachel here, Assistant Director at Timber Tops. I just want to clarify - we have many more than 16 girls in the rising 7th grade age group. I think the confusion might be that there are 16 girls signed up for just the first session, with many others staying for the full session. Say more! We had only been there for one summer so didn't have much experience. I found their email so vague..."a series of unfortunate events"?!?

Ugh. I’m so mad at the Netimus directors who (imo) drove it into the ground. It could have been amazing and as successful as its brother camp. What a waste.

Also after this experience I’m a little wary of sending my daughter to another small independent camp that could close down at any moment

In the same boat!! So disappointed. I looked at the camp they recommended with “similar values” but it looks even more rustic (oldest campers sleep in tents, basically) and doesn’t have horse riding.
