You have been "talking" to him for a year? And haven't met up? Well, you have bigger issues than the one you are presenting here.

At any rate, I think that is totally normal. It's 2026 and with this kind of info online people look stuff up. I would have Googled the heck out of someone, including looking at their house when their address popped up (which it does with the most basic search) long before this.

So, two things.

OP, you need to stop chatting online with people you've never met in person. Apps are there to connect you with real people who want to interact with you in real life. They get abused by scammers and fakers who take advantage of naive or lonely people who don't demand that the chats lead to something IRL. No man who plays pen pal with you for a year is legit.

The apps do not have "all this info on you" or whatever you are saying. They don't need to have that info because once you give a stranger your last name or enough clues about you, they can go to Google and find all of that. Most women who aren't clueless will get a man's full name, where he supposedly works, and his cell number to verify him before she shares any of her identifying info with him. That is 100% normal. It is expected. You can use a Google Voice number if you want to move the conversation off the app. But never give him your real cell #.

OP, is it possible you've got him confused with someone else? Or vice-versa, he is thinking you are someone different. If they have a similar address or maybe share some numbers it happens all the time. Best idea is probably to rewind/resend and double check the deets. If not, one of you may end up losing the screws/tightening up too much or just really shining.

I mean, if you’ve been talking for a year, yea, pretty reasonable to look someone up. More curious why you’re talking to someone you haven’t met and probably will never meet.

So this is another issue with old because I've been talking to a man for a year now and he already looked up where I lived recently so maybe I should have expected it but it still was invasive. Even though I know that all the information is up for grabs because OLD has all your information listed. So I'm wondering how other women deal with this who are also dating online? Do you still trust the guy or do you not need him or what do you do
