I use the Clairol Root Touch-Up powder. from Amazon. It's in a compact like eyeshadow.

I put a comb between my skin and the hair around my face to keep the powder off my skin. It's easy to brush it on your scalp.

It doesn't have much odor, unlike the sprays, and it's inexpensive.

Unless you use a spray that can be washed off next time you wash your hair, you will make a mess out of your color if you mix drug store brands with the professional salon products. I've done it a few times to save money and always regreted it.

Of the at home root cover up, this is by far my favorite. Pretty easy, natural color, actually covers grays. I have super dark hair and my greys at in my part and temples so they start to bug me like three weeks into having my hair done. So annoying but I refuse to embrace the grey.

I use the L'oreal spray which works but is definitely a lot of texture on the hair. I found the Color Wow powder to be ineffective. Will try those other powders!

If you use the demi-permanent - does that mess up your hairdresser when you go in the next time? Or do you time it so it fades before your appointment - how long does it last? I always want to make sure my hairdresser sees the gray as much as possible.

I think it also depends on your hairdresser. A better colorist will hide your roots better.

I've used the root products from the drug store. Results were fine.

Yes, I have dark hair so I need to touch up often. In between using drug store color (like root rescue), I brush on a root touch up powder (Madison Reed or Clairol). It gives a lot more control than the spray.

I’ve never done it. But it’s 45$ every 6 weeks. So you’d have to time it right to have it make sense between your normal person. I’ve only used Madison Reed root touch up powder and it’ok. But thinking of doing above bc I hate seeing my roots!!! Want to hear from someone first hand as well

If it is that bad you need to talk to your hair stylist about how to blend them in better.

Demi-permanent drug store color or Loral Rootrescue. Unless you get highlights etc, ni need to go to a salon.

I use Loreal Magic Root rescue every three weeks.

I advise talking to your colorist about what shade to use. Mine blends pretty well with my professional color.

I am getting more and more gray and the grays coming in in the roots in between salon visits are driving me crazy.

I have tried the drugstore spray to cover them. I don't love it.

Has anyone ever used drugstore color to carefully paint on color on the grays?

Any other solutions?
