Why cant you go out for a walk (my kid always finds a stick and walks with poking everything in a 2 ft radius)?

Or let him scooter or tricycle.

I don't understand this mentality where inclement weather means forced inside all day. Im not saying you have to be outside all day, but fresh air and getting out does the mind and body good.

Do you not go stir crazy? We leave the house/go outside/run off energy by 1030am each day.

My son's rain suit is the best kid thing I ever bought! We play in puddles and even go to the playground. Heck- we still ride the bike to school. Kids can have a blast with sticks and mud. Don't over think it. If I can, I'll pick up early for rainy playtime because school is probably doing indoor "recess" and he's going to be coming out of his skin for some physical activity

Puddles. Rain boots and rubber rain pants with stirrups help but also just, they’re going to get wet so stay close to home or bring a towel and dry clothes and be near a warm space.

We went outside with the kids almost daily. Exceptions where heavy thunderstorms and very heavy rain/ snow. Even if “nothing” to do cause all wet, we’d just take a walk around the block with umbrellas and rain boots and they’d always find something, a puddle, sticks that fell, etc. and we’d end up outside for at least half an hour and usually more.

Puddles are fun, if theres a hill with water running down mine likes to use pebbles to make dams and bridges. Chalk on wet pavement gets better color than on dry, walk in the wet woods is fine, bikes/scooter should be fine, four might be young for jump rope but other pavement ball games should be fine.

Good job getting him outside, it can take motivation in this weather.

My 4 year old loves going outside. He was incredibly cooped up after the snow storm and was really happy to be out at the playground last week. Now it’s going to be raining all week so playgrounds are hard to do. Any ideas for outdoors activities with preschoolers when it’s wet out? Maybe a park to play in puddles?
