We don't have one, but I have pieces strewn about. I definitely wouldn't include a gun.

Purchasing guns is ridiculous (and I'm not necessarily completely anti gun). And if you're at the point of needing filter straws, it's probably too late to get out of the DMV.

I think the point of filter straws is, if you have to walk out of the DMV, and hike to Southern VA or something, you may need to use unclean water sources along the way as we have to asssume you won't be able to stop for a Coke at McDonalds along the journey.

Same. I want to be dead before I see the light.

OP - pretty sure he thinks the water is going to be poisoned and that all the Republicans with guns will be coming to get Democrats. OR we will actually be at war with a foreign adversary on US soil.

Plan is to get the hell out of dodge and go to our family house by the Canadian boarder.

For us, we'd go up to Canada, then take a flight to the UK where my spouse is from.

Not a bad idea. I used to work in CA, and the company I worked for (FAANG) gave out an earthquake preparedness backpack. I still have it, thought the water and protein bars need to be throw out.

The guns are really bad idea. They’ll just be used on you or escalate an already bad situation.

Any thoughts about where you will go? If there is nuclear strike, Georgia is supposedly ok but you’ll need to hunker down for weeks until it’s safe to come out.

Or shoot someone else because he is in this heightened state of awareness.

Do you have an emergency plan in place? A go bag ready? All of the turmoil that is going on right now makes me uneasy. We have a safe place to go but we would have to get out of the DMV first. DH wants to get a go bag ready, straws that filter water, cash and guns. Is this all unnecessary?
