Normal people use their hands. It's a button. I usually have the gas spigot thing IN the TANK when I start pressing all the buttons.
Also, prediction, we'll get to Page 3 of this thread and someone will helpfully tell us about the arrow that indicates which side of your car the tank is. Like we were all born yesterday.

DD is learning to drive. I’ve noticed more now than ever before that some people tap the grade with the actual pump and I always was taught to use my hand to press it.
